A Door In Every Wall
A Door In Every Wall is 3D puzzle about mazes, robots, color coordination and battery management. In it, the player takes control a tiny bot, making their way through a handful of complex mazes. To solve them, they must collect colorful chips, which offer the ability to create portals in similarly colored walls. Enemies are also color-coordinated though, and will seek out anyone carrying chips of their same hue.

Coded both in C++ and in blueprints
Main design goals
- Creating a challenging yet calming experience -
- Blending top-down and 3rd person perspectives, exploring the limitations of each for player orientation -
- Designing maze-like levels that feel disorientating, but not to a degree that hinders gameplay -
- Coming up with demanding puzzles that don't rely on quick-reactions, while mixing in timed events -
What I did
(As the only person in the project)
- Designed 6 maze-like puzzle levels, ranging from tutorial-like difficulty to very challenging -
- Simple roaming, path-following and chasing NPCs -
- Multiple slot save system -
- Collectables tied to map traversal mechanics, which also affect NPC behavior -
- Movement-altering interactables (slowing and jumping pads) -
- UI, animation and particle effects implementation -
- SFX and music implementation -
(The music and most of the art are copyright-free assets, as credited in the itch page)
